Midterm/Final

Each semester has both a midterm exam and a final exam.  They are similar to the submissions, but the only resource you will be allowed to use will be a single 4x6 handwritten notecard.  Your notecard may contain directions, definitions, and formulas, but NO EXAMPLES.  Use of a notecard containing even one example will result in a zero on the exam.  MIDTERMS AND FINALS MUST BE COMPLETED IN THE CLASSROOM.  You must submit written notice to me at least two days before taking a midterm or a final.

Submissions

At the end of each chapter you will complete an online assignment called a submission.  To finish one course per semester you should be completing one submission every two to three days.  You may use resources like textbooks and the internet for submissions.  Submissions will not receive any partial credit without attached written work.

Supplemental Activities

You will complete extra assignments outside of the EdOptions curriculum for this class.  These assignments will include all of the following, and may include more:

Tests/Quizzes:  You will take between 10 and 20 short quizzes per course.  These quizzes will be based on the material that you see in your submissions, and are designed to help me assess any mistakes that may occur during the thinking process.  All quizzes will be handwritten in class.

Writing Project:  Our goal this year at EOHS is to improve writing across the curriculum.  You will select at least one writing prompt per semester and are expected to follow the guidelines, as outlined in the rubric on this page.  Writing prompts may be found on your class's page.  You will have one to two weeks to complete each writing project, and are expected to work on it concurrently with your submissions.  More specific guidelines for writing projects can be found above.

Outside Project:  You will receive at least one outside project per semester.  Topics will be broad and diverse, and group work will be allowed under specific conditions.  You will receive grading guidelines with each project that you begin.  You will have one to two weeks to complete each writing project, and are expected to work on it concurrently with your submissions.  More specific guidelines for projects can be found above.

Classwork/Participation

You will have a warm-up assignment when you enter the classroom each day.  You will be responsible for making up any missed warm-ups at a time outside of your normal class time, regardless of the reason for your absence.  Other in-class assignments, such as group work, may be assigned on a weekly basis.  Active participation is essential to your success as a student.  Part of your participation points will also come from active communication with me.  This includes, but is not limited to, email.  Please refer to the Contact Information page for details on correct email formatting.  An unexcused absence or tardy will make you ineligible to earn participation points for that day.
